Marvin's obituary
A native of Asheville, he served the US Navy in WWII as an officer and fighter pilot. Upon return he completed his undergraduate studies at Lenoir Rhyne University, married the love of his life and wife of sixty three years, Ruth Vaughn (9/1928 to 12/2010) and went on to graduate studies at Wake Forest University.
Marvin began and ended his entire chemical research scientist career at American Enka, later BASF Corp. receiving many awards for his work and service to the industry.
As Packmaster then Scoutmaster, OA he rose to Dogwood District Commissioner in service to Daniel Boone Council of the Boy Scouts of America for over two decades while serving the Candler and Etowah Lions Clubs. Just shy of 97 years, Marvin served his First Baptist Church, Asheville family tirelessly in love and faith his entire life.
He is survived by his brother JC, his wife Mabel, son Vaughn, daughter Jean, her husband Randy Cook, grandchildren Jeannette Biffle and Price Cook.
A Celebration of Marvin’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, Asheville at a date TBD post COVID.
