Marvin's obituary

Marvin James Laughlin, 72, of Flagstaff, AZ, passed away on July 6, 2022. Born on October 20, 1949, in Wichita, KS, Marvin was the son of Marion and Carole (Allen) Laughlin.

Marvin graduated from Wichita High School East in 1967 and went on to serve six years as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman and six years as a U.S. Air Force Mechanic. Marvin was the father of six beautiful children with his former wife of 25 years.

One of Marvin’s greatest joys in life was spreading cheer as a professional clown in his early adulthood, and in his later life, as a professional Santa Claus in various shopping malls in Mesa, AZ. He loved sharing Santa pictures with the children who spotted him all throughout the year, asking them if they were being good.

Marvin is survived by his children, Chad Laughlin of Flagstaff, AZ, Luke Laughlin of Mesa, AZ, Jesse Laughlin of Flagstaff, AZ, Jessica Laughlin of Vancouver, WA, and Rebecca (Alex) Stewart of St. George, UT; three grandchildren, McKenzee Laughlin, Logan Laughlin, and Brynleigh Laughlin; sister, Billie Eshelman of Mililani, HI; and friend and mother of his children, Shirley Waller-Laughlin of Hurricane, UT. Marvin was preceded in death by parents, Marion and Carole Laughlin; sisters, Beverly Hutchins, Charlotte Rylko, and Theresa Laughlin; and daughter, Misty Laughlin.

A reception honoring the life of Marvin Laughlin will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Joe C. Montoya Community & Senior Center in Flagstaff, AZ.
