Marvin's obituary
At the age of 17 Marvin joined the United States Marine Corps where he was assigned Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton as an Antitank Assaultman. He did a tour overseas to Lebanon, and served as security for weapons and munitions at Concord Naval Weapons Station. Serving his country honorably is one of his most proud accomplishments and something he reminisced often. It was shortly after his discharge that he met the love of his life, Tara Knox, at the local bowling alley in Walnut Creek, California and the rest was history. Together they explored and traveled the United States, living life without worries, eventually settling down in California. Marvin was a self-taught gardener, with a green thumb for all things that grew in the earth. He was fiercely independent, never scared, and loved to fish, restore antique cars, and take road trips across the United States with his wife.
Marvin was predeceased by his father, James Irville Knox, his mother, May Kelly Knox, his brother James Knox Jr., and his sisters Lotefa Peters and Emma Zatko. He is survived by his wife, Tara Stevens Knox, two sons, James Marvin Knox and John Eric Knox, six grandchildren; Marcella, Patrick, James, Kyle, John, and Katie Knox, two brothers Gary and Carl Knox, and four sisters; Carol Ann Moon, Jeanette Knox, Arlie Reardon, and Glenda Flippin.
