Marvin's obituary
Marvin Fischer, 73, of Bessemer, AL, passed away on June 12, 2023 after a long illness . Marvin was born on August 31, 1949 to Clare O. Fischer and Ernest Gilbert Fischer in Terre Haute, Indiana .After graduating from Plainfield High School in 1968 he went on to study at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona and graduated in 1972. He married and had two beautiful daughters, Megan and Kara. After graduation, he landed his first job for Raytheon Corporation and frequently moved around the United States for his company. He eventually settled in Birmingham, Alabama where he took contract work. He met and married Georgianna after a church meeting in Riverchase Methodist Church .
He enjoyed golf, traveling via cruises to many global sites. Because he loved history, he was most excited about seeing Ephesus . Even though he did not attend the University of Alabama, Georgianna graduated from there and introduced him to its football and basketball winning teams. He made many friends on these special game days especially John and Glenda Lewis.
Marv proudly made Bessemer, Alabama his home and was especially excited about getting our Greenwood home accepted to the Historical Commission.
He was a proud member of Morgan United Methodist Church and participated on many projects.
Marv was especially proud of his daughters: Megan and husband ,Jeremy Weis and 2 grandsons , Luke and Logan , of Columbia, S.C. He was also father to Kara Rallo, husband Paul, and 2 grandsons, Frank Ernest and Fischer, of Charlotte, N. C. He greatly loved his stepchildren and their families, including John Thomas Surrock and his wife Erin, and their daughter Ivy. And also Blake and her husband, James. There was always a smile on his face when he got to talk with them!
He loved his 2 brothers, Ernest Alan,of Michigan and his four adventurous children, Andrea, Julia, Byron and Jeff and Dale and his wife Elisa Lopez of Baltimore and their creative daughter, Natasha.
