"Marvin D. Smith, born to Alice Williams and William Smith on September 20, 1961, in Lambert, Mississippi, left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. As the oldest of seven siblings, he bore the responsibility with grace and compassion, embodying kindness, humor, and sweetness throughout his life. Marvin's magnetic personality drew countless friends into his orbit, and his warmth and respect for others earned him widespread admiration.

Marvin's legacy extends beyond his familial ties; as a loving father to four children, he helped instill in them the values of hard work, integrity, and love. His career in carpentry showcased his talent for craftsmanship, leaving behind tangible reminders of his skill and dedication.

On February 29, 2024, Marvin passed away in Columbus, Ohio, leaving behind a community enriched by his presence and a family forever touched by his love. He leaves behind to cherish his memory five siblings: Kelvin Smith, Gwendolyn Smith, Rickey Smith, Frank Smith, and Angela Smith; and one sister-in-law, Scheronda Smith. He also leaves behind four children: Keyunna Smith, Marvin Smith, Desmond Smith, and Randy Smith; two grandchildren: Desmond Smith Jr. and NiaRhylee Smith; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Though he may be physically absent, Marvin's spirit will live on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered."
