Where to begin .. as I think about Marv's life and a few of my recollections .. my thoughts go back to where we lived the first few years of our lives. We began life at Smith Hill, on a small farm near the US border, living in a small house on a hill. As we became school age, we attended the little country school, Rose Valley. Marv was probably about 8 years of age, when our parents moved us to a farm north of Boissevain, where our Dad grew his dairy farm. I am sure Marv would recall milking the cows with milking machines and also grain farming on what we considered back then to be a large farm (1 section of land). We attended another country school, named East Lynne, with a total of 16 or so students between grades 1 through 8 attending in a one room school. In 1968, I think, our folks moved to a farm near Ogilvie, where Marv took on additional responsibilities.
As Marv found the love of his life, Priscilla, married and began life as newly-weds, we began to enjoy a new relationship with Marv & Priscilla. We enjoyed connecting with them as they lived in Austin for a time, where they added to their family. We recollect times they spent at our country home near Austin.
As Marv & Priscilla moved to BC, our visits were few and far between, yet so enjoyed when they came to Manitoba with their family. We also thoroughly enjoyed the times we were able to travel to BC and made time to spend together with Marvin, Priscilla and their growing children.
We fondly remember Marv as the 'trucker brother' as he trucked millions of miles across Canada and USA.
Many of these memories, Marv would remember more vividly than I. Often when we would chat on a phone call, he would reminisce.. saying 'I remember Dad telling me about this .. or that.' His memories were much better than mine.
These memories are taking on a trail of their own .. so,
"Marv .. when we meet again, we will continue"
I will end with remembering the song "I Can Only Imagine.."
