Marty's obituary
Marty Niles 56, died surrounded by his daughters Brittany and Deborah and granddaughter Serenity on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at St Vincent’s Hospital after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Marty was a long-time Billings resident who graduated from Billings Senior High and after a short time in the military, he went on to a life-long career in the truck driving industry. In his spare time, he loved building model recreations of ships and planes for his friends and loved ones and collecting muscle cars.
As I write this, I can’t help but think back on our history together. It wasn’t always sparkly, but the long-lasting ones never are. They are raw and gritty, and sometimes they are downright painful. And then they are wonderous, awe-inspiring, and beautiful. Marty taught me to drive a truck and in doing so gave me more northern lights, mountain sunrises, and prairie sunsets than most people even dream of. Best of all, we raised two beautiful daughters full of fire who stood up for him against incredible odds in his last moments that would have made him so proud to see.
Marty was predeceased by his mother Vicki Allred and father Robert Schleining and is survived by siblings Sonny Sandretto and Tami Niles; children Robert Niles, Brittany Niles Arthur, and Deborah Niles Longnecker; and grandchildren Henry Niles and Serenity Longnecker.
Marty identified with the Church of Latter-Day Saints and was called upon by local elders the afternoon before his passing. Donations to help with covering Marty’s final expenses can be made directly to Brittany
