Marty's obituary

Martin "Marty" Tenenbaum, 69, of Hartsdale, NY, passed away on September 2, 2023 unexpectedly surrounded by family .

Marty was born on February 16, 1954 to Charles and Rita Tenenbaum in Bronx, NY. After graduating from Edgemont High School in 1972, where he was a star long-distance runner, he went on to become an aircraft mechanic through the Teterboro School of Aeronautics. Due to the 1970s energy crisis, aviation jobs were difficult to come by so he went on to work in the family real estate business for over four decades. He owned and operated an automobile service station for a few years and ultimately opened a gunsmith business over a decade ago, that becoming his passion.  Marty was a man of many talents and hobbies.  In his younger years he raced motorcycles, drag raced, was the lead mechanic for two Formula Ford cars and was an avid skier. Marty earned his instrument rating as a private pilot, was a passionate hunter and fisherman, and most recently became involved with the local amateur radio club. From the 1980s into the early 2000s, he was actively involved with the Masons and kept in contact with many of his masonic brothers. In 1974 he met Karen Drovy. They wed in 1980, going on to have three children, Andy, Doug, and Gerry. Marty was predeceased by his father Charles and brothers  Bruce and Tom.  He is survived by his wife Karen Tenenbaum, mother Rita Tenenbaum. sons Andy (Jennifer) Tenenbaum, Doug (Ellen) Tenenbaum and Gerry Tenenbaum. He leaves behind five grandchildren; Logan and Ethan, Jacob, Jordan and Scarlett Tenenbaum.
