Martin "Marty"'s obituary

Martin "Marty" Luebben, also affectionately known as Butch or Uncle Butch, passed away in the morning of January 13, 2020 after a long fight against prostate cancer.

Marty was born on May 17th, 1943 to Martin and Alma (Olsen) Luebben in Lakefield, MN; the only boy of five children. In 1967 he married Mary Jo (Talle), the woman he would spend the next 52 years with and the mother to their six children. He spent most of his life driving truck, including running the mail route from Owatonna to St. Paul for Michaletz trucking. Marty worked tremendously hard to support his family, dedicating even holidays to his work, which only instilled a great deal of appreciation for everything he did and sacrificed.

From a young age Marty enjoyed all things outdoors, including hunting and fishing, something he would pass on and enjoy with his sons. It was because of this that it was no surprise to anyone that when Marty and Mary Jo were both retired they moved to Donna, Texas to enjoy the sunshine and warmth. In his golden years Marty greatly enjoyed growing grapefruit from his own trees. He also enjoyed driving the golf cart around the park with the dogs, as well as driving his wife nuts.

Marty returned home to Minnesota for his last days and was surrounded by the love of his family up until his last moments. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo (Talle) Luebben; as well as their six children Terri (Curt) Crandall of Owatonna, Randy (Jill) Luebben of Waverly, Rob (Mandy) Luebben of St. Peter, Kelli (Jim) Luebben of Owatonna, Ryan Luebben of Owatonna, and Katie (Chad) Casselman of Eagan; and eleven of their twelve grandchildren, Megan, Kristin, Steven, Skylar, Samantha, Cade, Matthew, August, Ophelia, Wyatt, and Eleanor; two great grand children Riley and Dustin; as well as his sisters Gerri Luebben, Sandy Pavin, and Jean Dresselhaus; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Joan Stemper and nephew Matt Stemper, as well as his infant granddaughter Ashley Luebben.
