We are so saddened to lose our dear, longtime friend Marty. Our friendship began about 55 years ago when we became neighbors with Renee and Marty on Sandburg Drive in Marlboro. I have warm memories of having the Horak kids playing with our girls and blowing out the candles at the many birthday celebrations. Renee and Marty loved entertaining. Their pool parties were the best! Although, separated by miles in later years, we stayed connected by phone calls and some overnight road trips. We always looked forward to Marty’s stories and jokes. Lori, Jeff and Keith I want you to know how much your parents meant to us.
With our love, Bunny and Jack

We are deeply saddened at The loss of Marty. He and Renee were family to us. We raised our families together, shared are lives and so many memories. Marty was always there for us and, even though living in different parts of the country, he always called to check up on us. We would like Lori, Jeff and Keith and their families to know that our hearts are with them in their mourning.

Long before we moved to Four Seasons, Joan and I lived in Upper Township and had the AC Press newspaper delivered. In this one edition there was a photo and story about some crowd of seniors picketing the clubhouse at Four Seasons about what I later learned was "50 gallon water heaters". The champion of that cause I also learned was Marty Horak. Years later we moved to Four Seasons on Brewster Dr. and our neighbors were Marty and Renee Horak (let's not forget Barnaby). Renee made the "best" homemade soups which I enjoyed on a regular basis. Over the years Joan and I went to dinner many times and one of the benefits were the stories that Marty and Renee would share with us ...I called them "HisStories and their life". There is no way I could do justice to the Marty stories. His version of a road trip took us to places that were shared when Marty and Renee were raising their family....places like Pete and Eldas best thin crust pizza ever. Renee would call and check when she did not see us around to make sure we were ok. They were not only good neighbors but good friends we appreciated very much.
Many of Marty's stories were about family and his love of his children and grandchildren.
I had the opportunity over the years to proofread the Seasoned Observer or specific articles before it went to press. I have the last Seasoned Observer written before it closed in 2016. In it are so many events surrounding the causes he fought for and won while at Four Seasons. He always worked for the good guy and the Four Seasons community in general. He had some very good ideas some accepted and some not.
Before moving to South Carolina Marty and Renee had cleaned out "stuff" they did not want to take with them. I bought some stuff and Marty gave me some things that he did not need. Included in that pile was a rolling file cart. He asked me what I would do with that. I said I would come up with something. That rolling cart is now a plant holder and contains huge plant I no longer have to pick up and move to our sun room in the summer.
Joan and I visited them the first year they were in South Carolina and Marty as always had checked out places we could eat.
After Renee the love of his life, his partner and friend had passed away we talked on the phone many times. He talked and I listened. I certainly could tell he missed Renee terribly. In tribute he told me he was going to write a book. He asked if I would proofread this book. The title was "Will the Birds Ever Chirp Again." After reading this document I almost felt like I was sitting next to him....lots of humor, emotion, tenderness and sweet memories. It was life with Renee as only Marty could tell it. I told him and meant it sincerely that this was a gift to his family.
Marty rest in peace.
Steve and Joan your neighbors at 122 Brewster Dr.
