Martin's obituary
On October 26, 2024, Martin (Harry) Hoffman, 83, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away following a brief illness. He was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, the youngest child of the late Joseph (Ralph) Hoffman and Elizabeth (Nagle) Hoffman. He was a graduate of North Catholic High School and held a Bachelors degree from Clarion State College and a Masters degree from The University of Akron. He taught 30 years as a math teacher in the Jackson School District in Massillon, Ohio. He also coached basketball and football and was one of the “Have Some Fun DJ’s” in his earlier years. Following his retirement, he moved to Florida where he taught another 10 years at the Embry Riddle University.
Martin was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Gayle (Grening) Hoffman. Together they raised three children David (Annette) Hoffman, Monica (Steve) Howe, and Kurt Hoffman. They thoroughly enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren Kari (Rob) Arguello, Samantha Howe and Ryan Hoffman. He also had the honor and pleasure of earning the title of “Great Grandpa” and adored his three great granddaughters, Remi (8), Riley (5) and Rosianna (5) Arguello. He is also survived by his loving sister Mary (Evelyn) Parsons and several nieces and nephews which he spent time with and communicated to on a regular basis.
Martin was feisty, fun and full of life…he valued education and music most. He loved to travel, dance, soak in the sun, take walks on the beach, boat through the intercoastal and to spend time with his family and friends. Most recently, you would find him listening to music and dancing at the Moose, American Legion, Cafe Vica or Gallupi’s
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martin’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
