Martin's obituary

Marty George Jr., the brightest light in our sky, went dark on December 27, 2022. He was born on February 7, 1985 in Wilmington, DE, son of Martin A. George, Sr. and Christine Schleicher George of Bethany Beach, DE.

Marty was a graduate of Concord High School, Class of 2003, where he co-captained the football and baseball teams. He graced the fields of Naamans Little League for over 12 years and was named to the All-Stars teams from the ages of 8 to 16. Marty attended Widener University, where he continued playing football, but was a proud graduate of Delaware Hospitality Management Program in 2009. He loved all things athletic, but was especially devoted to his Raiders, Eagles, and Phillies. His greatest joy was watching the Eagles win the Superbowl with his father, and he and friends made the trip to Philadelphia for the victory parade.

Marty truly loved life and people. He enjoyed fine food and drink and lived with unparalleled gusto. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time at the beach, particularly with his niece, Vincenzia. Marty was admired for his generosity, his huge heart, and his unique ability to put a humorous spin on life's most difficult situations. He readily struck up a conversation with anyone and inevitably brought a smile to their faces. Marty's easy-going manner and ready wit made him a joy to be around, and he would drop everything to come to the aid of a friend.

He was a proud, Italian mama's boy, but his father was his buddy. Marty never missed an opportunity to be with family, and he called his mama every day.

Marty considered his career to be his vocation, and he enjoyed his profession immensely. He was well known, well respected, and well liked in the restaurant industry and was most recently employed by Striper Bites in Lewes, DE.

In addition to his parents, Marty is survived by his daughter, Genevieve Ramirez of Waco, TX; his sister, Simone Marie George of Smyrna, DE; his niece, Vincenzia Quinn, his partner, Jessica Mixon; and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins in Delaware and in Texas.

A celebration of Marty's life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11:30 AM, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE, where friends may visit beginning at 10:00 AM.
