Martin Lawrence Anderson, “Marty the Party”
Martin Lawrence Anderson, affectionately known as “Marty the Party,” passed away at the age of 78 on March 29, 2026, in Lockport, Illinois, surrounded by the love of his life and his children. He was born on November 4, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Myrtle (Westman) and Melvin Anderson, and was a long-time resident of Homewood, Illinois.
Marty was the beloved husband of JoAnn (Paliga) Anderson, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage, and the son-in-law of the late John and Ann Paliga. He was a devoted father to Lisa (Anderson) Utter (Jason Utter) and Jeff Anderson (Michelle Nilson). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacy Anderson. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nathan and Nolan Utter, and Henry Anderson.
He was the cherished brother of Roland Anderson (Melanie), and the loving brother-in-law of John and Susie Paliga, Judy and John Vesely, and the late Jim Paliga and Angela Paliga, as well as a devoted uncle, cousin, and friend to all.
A proud scholar, Marty graduated from Fenger High School, earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University, and received his master’s degree from Roosevelt University.
Marty enjoyed music and shared his love of it by creating CDs for friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and a trivia guru, always ready to challenge those around him with his knowledge and passion.
Marty will be remembered for his vibrant personality and the joy he brought to those around him—living up to his nickname, “Marty the Party.” His warmth, humor, and love for his family will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 12, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at CD&ME, 23320 LaGrange Rd., Frankfort, IL 60423, where family and friends are invited to stop by and celebrate Marty’s life. Bring your memories and stories to share!
