Jody's obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Martha Walkup, better known as Jody, on August 4, 2024. Born on October 21, 1960, she lived a fulfilling life filled with love, laughter, and endless contributions to those fortunate enough to know her.

Jody is survived by her beloved husband David Walkup, whom she married in 1978, and their two wonderful children, Brooke Orr and Shaun Walkup. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren Kaylee Lewis, Dakota Lewis, Dion Walkup and Mackenzie Orr, and two great-grandchildren born on July 22, 2019, and September 15, 2023, respectively. She is predeceased by her parents, Nancy and Malcolm Baird.

A loyal follower of the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and Chicago Cubs, she also enjoyed TV Shows like CSI, NCIS, and Murder she wrote. Her favorite game to play included Spyro, Flogger, and QBert. She was also an avid reader and cherished spending quality time with her family.

Known for her feisty but loving and caring personality, Jody was a strong advocate of always taking care of family. Her favorite culinary delights included Dog n suds, and she loved sipping on Pepsi and coffee. Her favorite music spanned across many artists, and she held a particular fondness for the color purple.

Jody’s legacy of kindness and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those she left behind. Her lessons and her love will forever guide her family and friends. Her loss will be greatly felt by all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She will be tremendously missed.
