Martha's obituary
Martha "Marty" Evans was born to the late Maggie and James Evans on November 17, 1953, in Chesterfield, South Carolina. She peacefully departed this life on December 6, 2025, in Baltimore, Maryland.
Martha received her high school diploma from Carver High School within the Baltimore City Public Schools system. She then dedicated many years to the Gourmet Bakery Company in Baltimore, where she was a highly regarded Cake Decorator/Artist known for her intricate and unique cake designs.
Throughout her life, Martha was known for her energetic, loving, enjoyable, and intelligent personality. Her vivacious spirit enabled her to live her life to the fullest, dancing and singing her way through the good times and the bad. She was an epitome of love, and she truly mastered the art of loving and being loved in return. The best lesson she imparted to others was indeed how to love.
Martha was a woman of many talents and passions, and to those who knew her closely, her cooking skills stood out the most. She loved to prepare pork chops and steak, a favorite dish of hers, and would always bring joy and contentment to those who tasted her food. Baking cakes was more than just a hobby for Martha, it was a manifestation of her love for her family and friends, a way for her to communicate her affection for them. Martha loved spending time with family and friends, shopping , watching the soap opera Young and the Restless, and watching movies.
Martha was preceded in death by her father James Evans, mother Maggie Evans, sister Mary Evans, and brothers James Evans and Timothy Evans.
Martha is survived by her three devoted sons: Michael Knox, Jerry Robinson, and Jerome Robinson, and her daughters-in-laws, Nikia Knox, Teqia Thornton, Adina Robinson. She leaves behind a large and loving family, including her siblings: Barbra Williams, Curtis Cooper, Cathy Evans, James Evans, Gerald Evans, Jerry Evans, Purcell Evans, William Evans, Jamie Evans, Mary Lee Duncan, and Johnny Duncan, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is also remembered by the love of her life, Tony Blake, who brought her joy, companionship, and unwavering support.
Martha was a cherished grandmother to thirteen grandchildren—Dyneice Robinson, Malik Scott, Ayana Knox, Jeri Robinson, Anijah Robinson, Tony Robinson, Jaylen Robinson, Jeriyah Robinson, Michael Knox Jr., Jaiden Robinson, Jerome Robinson Jr., Journee Robinson, and Justice Robinson—and a beloved great-grandmother to Jerrod, Ma’layiah, and Ta’cori.
Her enduring legacy will be defined by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for her family, especially her grandchildren. As we remember Martha, we are reminded of her zest for life and her undying love for her family.
We are comforted in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched and the impact she made. Our hearts ache from the void left by her absence, but we take solace in the memories and lessons she left behind. Goodbye, Martha, until we meet again.
God Knew - God knew that you were suffering, though you never would complain; He chose to lift your head an release you from pain. We would ask, how are you doing, you would say, "I'm doing alright;" Even when it became difficult for you to fight. So God called you into his blossom and give you internal rest. Though we may not understand it all, we trust in him for He knows best (Poem from James "Bo" Evans obituary).
