When we were teenagers we went to the record hop.  She was a blonde and I was a brunette.  We wore clothes alike except in color.  Some people (guys) thought we were twins! LOL At times we were known as Candy (Martha) and Cindy (me).  Fun times.
Martha was one of my best friends.  We grew up together and had many good times at the record hop.  We walked the dirt roads of Meeks from her house to mine without a fear.  She was  a very good singer and guitar  player.  I miss her.
"When my grandmother (Aunt Betty as she called her) passed away, my aunt told us all there was a song she wanted played at her funeral. It was the first we had ever heard of it. Apparently, it was an old country song that had been played at her mother's (my great grandmother's) funeral. Anyway, this was way before apple music. Haha. We called radio stations everywhere trying to find a copy of it with no luck. For some reason, I was at Martha's and mentioned it to her. She picked up her guitar and played and sang every word of that song and then did the same at the funeral. I'm not sure she ever knew just how much that meant to all of us. I always thought so much of her and Jeannie. They were always so good to me even though our family never really spent any time together. When I think about Martha and Jeannie I think about the things I love about Meeks. They both had great stories and I loved hearing more about my great grandparents from them. I find comfort in the fact that they will all be together again soon." ❤
