Irreplaceable.

I still try to call you to share my day, ask advice, seek comfort.

There is no one that can possibly fill your shoes or the impact you had on my life. Losing you I am forever changed.

It’s only been one year and I miss you immensely. I do feel your love guiding me. Sometimes I hear your words coming out of my mouth. I find it both shocking and comforting. Mom, I love you. Heaven is lucky to have you.

She was an amazing mother, playmate, friend, hairstylist, dressmaker, and chef - among other things. Full of life and humor, she was one of the most stubborn people I’ve ever known.

She could wield profanity proficiently in many languages and make a sailor blush. She loved her bling - jewelry, rhinestone license plates, or sparkly readers. She loved dressing “to the nines,” and was incredibly feminine in all her ways.

She taught me how to do almost everything in my life - especially how to be a mother.

Her heart was huge, and she was generous with her time, knowledge, and love. She retired from the San Diego Unified School District - everyone - staff, faculty, parents, and, children adored her.

She loved me unconditionally and I am grateful. We had our ups and downs throughout our lives but our ups far outweighed our downs. Their heights were immeasurable. We laughed so hard we cried then laughed more until our sides hurt.

I am a better person because of her example.

After her long battle with cancer, she lost. She passed away on January 26, 2025, in the early morning hours. I know she is stirring trouble with her best friends in Heaven and is looking upon us with a smile on her face and love in her heart.
And, yes, cancer sucks.
