Martha's obituary
In the early morning of September 2, 2023 , Martha Bawcum’s soul was freed from her Earthly vessel.
Martha was born on September 26, 1925 in New Mexico. She was the eldest of six children and as the matriarch of her family was the last of her siblings to go home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Martha was a very private and strong woman who led a fulfilling life that is a testimony to being selfless without seeking recognition for her generosity.
Martha was always a beautiful and popular member of her community at the Silvercrest senior living apartments where she resided for almost 40 years.
Martha was never one to sit around and watch t.v. Her activities ranged from Wii bowling to aerobics and daily canasta games.
She loved visiting seniors who often were without visitors. Martha also counted the bell ringers money pots for the Salvation Army, and attended so many Ventura County fairs that she lost count as to the number of years she attended.
Martha was also an avid Johnny Cash fan, she could be seen at the Johnny Cash Revivals held each year at the Ventura Fairgrounds.
Martha is survived by her devoted son Jack Bawcum and daughter, Lisa Sylvester.
As a loving and fiercely devoted mother, her presence in their life was a beacon of love, guidance and support.
Martha always maintained a strong doctrine of putting 'family first, everybody else second,' This lesson she passed onto Jack and those around her.
Marthas greatest joy was her beautiful grandchildren who she hopes will stay close until they are all reunited again with her and their Grandfather, Donald Bawcum in Heaven.
Grandchildren;
Shane Ortiz, Misty Hermsen & Jade Bawcum.

Donations are being accepted for the Alzheimer's Association at https://everloved.com/life-of…. This cause was close to Martha's heart and donating to it will be a meaningful and lasting tribute to her.
The loss of Martha is deeply felt by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the love, wisdom, and faith she shared with us. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of her loved ones. Rest in peace Mom, and thank you for the unforgettable touch you brought to our lives.
