Marsha's obituary
Marsha Marie Desormo, born January 5, 1953, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2025. The night before she passed, Marsha was up late with her brothers playing music surrounded by the Desormo family in Watertown, NY. Marsha was preceded by her parents, Marjorie & Leon Desormo; her brother, Leon Desormo; former husband, Chris Porter; and granddaughter, Ayanna Kori.
Surviving family members include her children and grandchildren - Aaron (Jennie), Jane, Micah, Job (Althea), Hannah, Bethany, Rachel (Jenn), and Zachary; grandchildren - Chris, Haley, Soren, Gianni, and Chris (AKA Jojo); brothers - Chris and Art (Trudy); nieces and nephews - Jen, Cody, Anna, Kayla, Jenna; and great-niece, Eloise.
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha: a whirlwind of activities and passions. She retired from the Tompkins County Mental Health Clinic as a Case Aide worker, but she stayed busy - leaving her mark with projects everywhere she went. After retirement, she became a Snowbird and headed to Florida, but she never stayed still for long. Marsha was a renowned traveler, both across America and the world. She frequently went up and down the Eastern Seaboard to visit family and friends throughout the last several years, but she also embarked on a solo road trip out west and visited Italy, France, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
She was a singer-songwriter, a musician, a gardener, a traveler - and would always brake (hard) for a yard sale and would stop at nothing to get a good deal. She would sneak to abandoned properties and Robin Hood flower bulbs to make other spaces beautiful. She loved nothing more than a dip in the lake after picking fresh fruit. She was generous, clever, resilient, hilarious, and spontaneous. (She absolutely installed a ceiling fan at 6 a.m. before heading to work in Ithaca.)
Information regarding services will be shared soon. We are planning an event for the early fall. Please celebrate her when you can, but especially with friends, music, and anywhere with water.
