Marsha's obituary

Marsha Lee Celosse (n. Colman), 73, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020. Marsha was born in Stillwater, MN on November 26, 1946. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Hendrik Celosse; and by parents G. Marvin Colman and Eunice Iola Colman (n. Westrom). Marsha is survived by her children: Mike (Mary Margaret), Shana (Dan Ness), Michelle (Tim Fortier); grandchildren: Jared, Katelyn, Evan and Leah Celosse; Samantha, Ethan, Mikaela and Elliana Ness; MacKenzie, Madyson and Mallory Fortier; siblings: Fred (Louise) Colman, Norma Holmbeck, Pam (John) Cook, Patty (Tim) Downs, Steve (Nancy) Colman.

After graduating from Cumberland High School (Wisconsin) in 1965, Marsha moved to St. Paul, MN to work for West Publishing. It was there she met Hendrik. Marsha and Hendrik married in 1967 and settled down in White Bear Lake, MN where Marsha started a licensed home daycare center. Marsha served many families as a daycare provider and her home became a second home to dozens of children over the years. Marsha enjoyed entertaining guests in her home. She and Hendrik enjoyed cooking lots of food for their family and friends. Marsha was also active in bible studies and volunteering at her church.

After Marsha and Hendrik’s three children married and started families of their own, Marsha and Hendrik retired to Florida where they continued their hospitality and spread kindness and generosity to many new friends.

Marsha will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her hospitality, kindness and generosity. Those are the memories we will treasure. But Marsha also struggled in ways known almost solely to her husband and immediate family. Marsha battled depression, alcohol dependency and mental illness. Praise God that no individual is defined by their struggles; nor do a person’s struggles negate their contributions in this world. We are all valuable in God’s eyes and we all struggle in different ways.

Losing a loved one is often a time for reflection and sometimes remorse. These struggles are shared to encourage families to demonstrate love toward one another and talk openly and courageously about their struggles. These words are written to cast light into the shadows and fight against the stigma and the silence so that other families impacted by similar struggles might be encouraged and know that they are not alone. If someone you love is struggling with depression, substance abuse or mental illness please love them enough to talk about it and lovingly encourage them to get help.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
