Marquex's obituary
Marquex Levi Boynton was born, May 15th, 1981 in Redwood City, CA to parents, Levi Sr. and Ifetayo. Marquex was their firstborn son and younger brother to Kim and Michelle, as well as older brother to Levi Jr. He was also a loving and devoted father to his son Matthew and husband to Yaakovah. It is important to note that Marquex was also an amazing uncle to Amber, Delshay, Brian Sr. and Jajuan and a fun-loving, great-uncle to Brian Jr., Brandon, and Brooke. He was also brother to Jelani and Perry, a wonderful nephew, cousin, mentor and managed to be a best friend to countless numbers of people of all creeds and cultures.
Marquex was mostly homeschooled by his mother as a child but eventually attended public school. While being homeschooled, Marquex became a kick boxer and an avid swimmer, even serving as a lifeguard with the Vallejo GVRD during several summers. Marquex graduated from Vallejo High School in 1999 where he was a member of many clubs and organizations including the Black Student Union.
After high school, Marquex attended Diablo Valley College and later transferred to the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). While at UVI he took part in an International Exchange Program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico; he became fluent in Spanish and immersed himself in Mexican culture and cuisine. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Affairs at UVI. Marquex’s pursuit of higher education in business, led him to continue his studies at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While at NSU he traveled to Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong, China where he participated in Shanghai University’s International Business Field Seminar, upon his return he earned his master’s degree in International Business Administration.
Marquex was extremely active throughout his life and was the ultimate outdoorsman. He enjoyed everything from skiing and snowboarding to bike riding and ATV riding and anything else that would give him and adrenaline rush. He loved to express himself creatively. Marquex was an artist and loved to draw Anime. He also loved technology and was known for taking things apart and putting them back together. Basically, he was a complete gadget freak, always supplying family and friends with the latest and greatest in technology. He loved his job as Service Warehouse Lead at AppleCare Logistics in Sacramento CA, where he worked from 2015 to July 2021. Marq was revered as a leader who was a Member of Black@Apple and respected for his work ethic.
Marquex was a global citizen whose travels to (the Dominican Republic, China, Egypt, Mexico, the Netherlands and many other places) gained many friends and extended family members. Marquex was a hilarious, outgoing, fun-loving, adventurist who would do or say anything to put a smile on the face of those whom he loved. Marquex loved to imitate people and tell stories that could easily make your gut bust. Marquex was a huge lover of nature and animals and had many many, pets throughout his life, an animal kingdom if you will. Marquex owned fish, turtles, snakes, lizards. He especially loved dogs, Shaka, Ginger and Blue were all his pets. Later, he rescued and adopted a mixed breed dog he named Bosco.
Although Marquex left his physical form on July 9th, 2021 his spirit and legacy will live on through his son Matthew, whom he adored. We ask that you remember his kind spirit, his million-dollar smile and that you keep his memory alive in your own way as much as possible.
Marquex was preceded in death by his father: Levi Boynton Sr., and his Brother Levi Jr. aka “BB”.
He leaves to Cherish his memories: His God Mother, Asha Shareem, Many Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, his in-laws the Lampkins and Extended Family & Friends.
