Marlyn's obituary
Marlyn was born to Cecil Guy and Opal Ruth (Ward) Mustoe in Kingman, Kansas in 1936. Early childhood had her moving with her mother and sisters to Chehalis, Washington, then Colorado Springs, Colorado afterwards Seattle, Washington. She attended Highline High School in Burien, Washington. She attended King's High School and was a senior there in 1953/1954. She joined New Tribes Missionary Camp in 1954 and was in training at Fouts Springs, California where she met Charles McManus whom she married in 1955 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. To this marriage were born four children, Stephen, Paul, Philip, and Janelle McManus. She and Charles were divorced in 1972 in Portland, Oregon. In 1976 she married Henry Howard Washington in Portland, Oregon where they lived until his death in 1981.
Marlyn's professional life included being a professional cook both with catering services and institutions. At one time she was a seamstress. Marlyn came to Christ as a young adult in Seattle and joined Holly Park Friends Church in Seattle, Washington. Moving to Portland she attended Piedmont Friends then Reedwood Friends church. At the time of her passing she was a member of Warren Baptist Church.
Marlyn had many hobbies and interests, including embroidery, crocheting, knitting, pets (mostly cats), collecting clocks, word puzzles, video games, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, second husband, and eldest son Stephen. She is survived by her sisters Nancie Kremer and Beverly Walimaki; two sons Paul and Philip (Phyllis), and daughter Janelle (Daniel) Peterson; five nieces and nephews, four grandchildren and two step-grandsons, one great-grand child and four step-great grandchildren, and one step great-great-grandson.
She is interred in Willamette National Cemetery. Monetary donations may be made to the Benevolent Fund in care of Warren Baptist Church, Warren, Oregon.
