Marlyn's obituary

Marlyn Ruth Hupfer(Nee Braby) passed away November 21st, 2020 after a long life well lived. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 15th, 1925 , graduated from Rufus King High school and married Edward F Hupfer. Eddy was a local boy who assisted Marlyn and her father, Ward, caring for and racing their coop of homing pigeons. They met and courted before the war and were married when Eddy returned.
They built a house in Wauwatosa after they were married, and lived there together until the last days of their full lives. They had one child together whom they lost before birth.
She began her career as an executive secretary working at Schusters, and then Gimbles. She made many close friends in the years she worked there and continued those friendships by meeting with her "Schuster Group" for monthly lunches well into her 80's. She had a sharp mind and a keen eye for numbers and worked for many lucky employers including Allied power and Baird. She worked as an executive secretary handling the personal accounts for longtime local businessman, Philip G. Brumder until his death in 2010. She then retired at the age of 85. Marlyn and Eddy loved dogs, and owned many miniature schnauzers over the years. Marlyn was an avid photographer, and loved snapping pics of everything from her beloved dogs to the flowers she also loved to grow.
She is survived by Her cousin, Terry(Sue) Boyle of Geneva , Illinois; and Nephews, Duane(Linda)Dolney of Weatherford, TX; and Kenneth(Carla) Dolney of Columbia, SC.
She is also survived by her good friends, Brenda and Gary Shields Jr of Elm Grove, WI. as well as many close neighbors and friends she made over her long life.
Thank you to the staff at Heritage Court of Menomonee Falls, WI for making her home in memory care special for the last year, and the many caring aids, cooks, and support staff that provided loving care and services that sustained her until her final days. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. No memorial events are currently scheduled. To offer your sympathy during this difficult time, her family would appreciate in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital .
