Marley's obituary
Marley Frances Manning Fosdick, a beloved member of the Manning family, passed away suddenly at Maine Medical Center on April 11, 2023. She was 73 years old. Born on September 7, 1949, in Queens, New York, Marley was the beloved daughter of the late Mary Brennan and Martin Manning. She spent her formative years in the serene town of Huntington Bay, New York.
Marley's passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She studied at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island, and graduated in 1994. Prior to that, she completed her education at Huntington High School, where she was a member of the class of 1967.
Marley's life was marked by love and loss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Fosdick, her daughter, Marin J. Fosdick of Winter Harbor, Maine, and her brother, Richard Manning of Potsdam, New York. Despite these heartaches, Marley found solace in the presence of her surviving family members and dear friends.
Marley is survived by her brother, Marty, affectionately known as Buddy, and his wife Sandra Manning of Nevada. She is also survived by her brother Arthur and his wife Dierdre Manning of Gouldsboro, Maine. Marley's legacy lives on through her four grandchildren: Aria Rain Brennan Brown and Reilly Jackson Brown of Corning, New York; Elliot Martin Brown of Nashville, Tennessee; and Dulcinea Lacey of Franklin, Maine. Additionally, she leaves behind a great-grandson, Sawyer Alan Brown.
Marley's extended family brought her immeasurable joy. She is survived by her niece, Laura Manning Brown of Gardnerville, Nevada, and her nephew Craig Manning of Sparks, Nevada. Marley's nephews Arden Manning of Oxford, Oxfordshire, and Dieran Manning of Winter Harbor, Maine, also carry her memory in their hearts. She was a cherished aunt to five grand nieces and nephews.
Marley's love for her family was boundless. She treasured her conversations with her brother Buddy, finding solace and laughter in their stimulatingly comical exchanges. Marley was captivated by the antics and prolificity of her nieces and nephews, who brought a sense of vitality to her life. She was continuously grateful for the blessings of her family and friends.
As Shakespeare once said, "And when she dies, cut her out in little stars, and she shall make the face of the heavens so fine that all the world will fall in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun." Marley Frances Manning Fosdick will forever be remembered for her loving, caring heart, her dedication, and the light she brought into the lives of those who knew her.
