I’ve been deeply saddened by the passing of Markus. I can’t begin to imagine what his family is going through, and my heart truly goes out to them during this difficult time.
I first met Markus at an ECU School of Dental Medicine information session for prospective students and patients. He sat at our table and took the time to talk with us, immediately leaving a lasting impression through his kindness and respectful nature.
During Family Day, my family and I had the opportunity to visit Markus’ station. He patiently showed me the correct way to hold the handpiece while drilling a tooth. I’ll never forget how happy I felt when he smiled and said, “Mrs. Mebane, you did it right.” That small moment perfectly reflected the warmth and encouragement he shared with everyone around him.
Markus was a bright light; genuine, uplifting, and full of promise. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him

I know you were so proud of everything Markus accomplished. But the most important thing he did here on earth was share his light with so many. His smile and energy were truly infectious, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched.

My condolences to Markus's family. I first met Markus by way of Mr. Lowery connecting us to learn more about Barry University. I’ll never forget answering the phone and this guy was talking 1000 mph and it all made sense!
Over the years Markus became mentee, then little brother, then colleague. I am amazed at how many deep connections he made with people in so little time.
I learned so much about telling people what you think of them, right there in that moment. He was the biggest cheerleader and hype man and made it effortless.
I’d look forward to a late night FaceTime when I knew him and Christian were together. I’d go into mom mode “be safe, let me know when y’all get in”.
Even in his bounciest moments, I just let him because that is his true authentic self. His light will certainly be missed.

Dr. Markus Mosley,
Your bright and shining light will live on forever. It was such an honor to know you, and to know you was truly to love you. I miss your big, beautiful smile and the way your presence could light up any room. Though I only had the privilege of knowing you for four short months, it feels like a lifetime because of the impact you had on me and all of those you came into contact with.
You touched so many lives, often more than you realized. The kindness, compassion, and joy you shared will never be forgotten. From here on, I’ll do my best to carry your spirit forward and try to see the world the way you did — with love, laughter, and light.
Prayers for peace, comfort and love to your family and friends.
Love,
Mandy Walker
