It is a gift to be given adequate time to reflect upon one's life. Mark contributed to and approved much of the content of this website. Its creation became a therapeutic offering during the many weeks of hospice.

We are grateful for the many kind expressions of support during the past 15 1/2 months. Whether it was through a meal, gift card, social media post, text, phone call, voicemail, special delivery, or postcard, the thoughtfulness and generosity of so many sustained and nourished us as we traveled along together on an uncertain yet definitive path. We are overwhelmed with gratitude: for all of you; for each other; and especially for Mark, who we were so very blessed and lucky to have known and loved, and to have received love from, throughout his life.

We are grateful for the excellent care and support that Mark received from all team members at Northwestern's Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute, but especially Dr. Roger Stupp, his neuro-oncologist; Karyn Schmidt, his neuro-oncology nurse; Dr. Sean Sachdev, his radiation oncologist; and Julian, the nurse who warmly greeted Mark on almost every visit to the 20th floor of Galter. Special thanks goes to the nurses and other hospice staff who helped to provide comfort and dignity during Mark's transition, especially Andrea, Branka, Paul, Tio, Chris, Joan, Tanya, Pam, and Shannon, whose warm voice and upbeat manner were most welcome during reassuring late night phone calls.
