Mark Wilfert
May 7, 1958 – September 6, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Elliot Wilfert—beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Mark passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on September 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma.
Mark was born on May 7, 1958, in Reading, Pennsylvania, to Warren and Jeanine Wilfert. He was their youngest child and only son, and he was blessed with two wonderful sisters whom he adored.
He graduated from Mount Penn High School in Reading, PA, in 1976, and went on to attend Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Mark graduated on the Dean’s List in 1980 with a degree in Government, focusing on Constitutional Law and International Politics. He later earned his teaching certificate from Albright College in 1983.
In 1987, Mark married the love of his life, Diane Heffernan. The two soulmates remained married for 39 years, raising three beautiful daughters together. They enjoyed traveling as a family, especially to warm, relaxing islands. Mark’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He spent many years entertaining sleepovers, making breakfast, watching movies, and playing outside—always present, always loving.
Together, Mark and Diane worked hard to succeed and provide a joyful, secure life for their family. In 2024, they fulfilled a longtime dream by building their forever home in Ocala, Florida. Mark continued working remotely for Franklin Bank, a role he loved deeply. He took great pride in his work as a BSA Officer and built many meaningful relationships during his career there.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Jeanine and Warren Wilfert. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his three daughters, Robyn (Robert) Ceaser, Connie (Chris) Lanzetti, and Aimee (Joel) Atkinson; and his cherished grandchildren, Gretchen Ceaser, Roman Atkinson, and Parker Atkinson. He is also survived by his sisters, Su (David) Lively and Jennifer (Glenn) Duerr; along with dozens of nieces, nephews, in-laws, countless friends, and his best buddy, Polka-dot.
Mark’s kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his easy smile, his love of conversation, love of travel and trying new foods. His love of adventure and new experiences. He was a devoted husband, amazing father, wonderful brother and faithful friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
