Mark's obituary
For Dad. May you shine in heaven alongside the angels, as a prism reflecting the sun.
I rest in knowing the Lord in heaven has reached you.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Allen Sloan of Youngstown, Ohio; who earned his wings on July 8th, 2023 having past on the 7th. Born on July 24, 1955, the son of George and Leona (Hanson) Sloan. Greeting him in heaven are his parents and youngest sibling Theodore.
Mark was a 1974 graduate of Woodrow Wilson school.
He had a fulfilling life, marked by compassion which we all came to adore.
Mark was a caring father to his beloved daughter, Heather. A loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Bailey, Kylian, Sullivan, and Eternity. The times he spent with his grandchildren in the recent years built an everlasting impression.
Mark leaves his sisters Cheryl Watson and Debra Tisone, and brother Greg in his passing. He was also very close with his nephews and nieces.
Mark had a taste for hearty foods - especially Jib Jab hot dogs, steaks, and burgers grilled to perfection.
An ardent fan of Westerns.
He had a deep affection for model trains, and motorcycles.
Mark was a skilled auto body technician, and in his later years having obtained a CDL became an independent truck-driver. He was also known for his knack of assembling guns, taking great joy in the precision and focus it demanded. However, the time he cherished the most was spent creating treasured memories with his beloved grandchildren.
His personality was a unique blend of caring, stubbornness, and a secret loving nature (that he hid very well) drew everyone towards him. He will always be remembered for the strength of his character, the warmth of his affection, and his unwavering loyalty to those he held dear.
We deeply mourn our loss, but we also remember and celebrate the life Mark lived. His legacy continues through his family, in the lessons he imparted, the love he shared, and the memories we carry with him in our hearts.
A dinner will be held in celebration of Mark's life on July 24, 2023, please contact family for information.
