Mark's obituary

It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark Steven Connelly, a man of profound wisdom, extraordinary warmth, and unwavering loyalty. Born on December 6, 1958, Mark graced our lives with his presence until his untimely departure on September 22, 2024.

Mark leaves behind a large family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his beloved son, Devon Connelly, and his daughter-in-law, Erin Grace. The bright rays of joy in his life were his granddaughters, Clara, Olivia, and Annika Connelly, who fondly called him "PopPop". Mark's legacy also survives through his brothers, Scott, Chris, and Paul Connelly, his sister, Debbie Connelly, and his sisters-in-law, Lisa and Char Connelly. Additionally, he leaves behind his nieces, Aimee, Jamie, and Rachelle and his nephews, Aaron, Matt, David, Cameron, Zach and Peter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Phyllis Connelly.

A man of diverse tastes and interests, Mark had a profound love for food, music, and movies. A passionate Bengals and Ohio State University fan, Mark also loved drag racing, photography, cooking, target shooting, watching Formula One and motorcycle riding. Despite his varied interests, his greatest pastime was spending quality time with his granddaughters and finding homes for stray cats.

Mark truly lived life to its fullest, and enjoyed traveling. Young's Dairy Farm and the New Carlisle Sportsman's Club held special places in his heart. He was a compassionate man, deeply committed to causes such as nature and wildlife preservation, autism awareness, and firearm safety.

A man of conviction and purpose, Mark's accomplishments were many. He was consistently one of the top salesmen at multiple companies. Yet, among his notable achievements, he was most proud of being a safety instructor for firearms, and an advocate and caretaker for stray cats. Above all, his most cherished legacy are his three beautiful granddaughters.

With a personality best described as warm, generous, kind, outgoing, and loyal, Mark's life lessons of demonstrating compassion and empathy towards others will continue to inspire. His favorite color, purple, was a fitting representation of his royal character filled with wisdom and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for "A Trust for Mark's Granddaughter, Clara." Contributions can be made at the following URL: https://everloved.com/life-of…. These funds will serve as a loving tribute to Mark's memory, echoing his deep affection for his family.
