Mark Raymond Lewis

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Raymond Lewis, age 60, on September 24, 2024, in Port Charlotte, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Marilyn Winfrey and Thomas Poholsky, Mark was adopted by Lillian and Edward Lewis, and grew up in Punta Gorda, Florida.

A proud graduate of Charlotte High School, Mark was an athlete, excelling in both football and basketball. His passion for life extended into his professional career as a dedicated taxi driver and owner of Checker Cab of SWFL during the 2000s, where he built lasting connections with his community.

Mark was a true sports enthusiast, with a particular love for NASCAR and an unwavering loyalty to his favorite NFL team, the Miami Dolphins. Above all, he cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren, creating countless joyful memories filled with laughter. Known for his infectious sense of humor, Mark faced life's challenges with strength and resilience, fighting bravely through his illness until the end.

Mark is preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Lillian and Edward Lewis, his brother, Thomas Lewis, and his biological father, Thomas Poholsky. He is survived by his biological mother, Marilyn Winfrey; his devoted wife, Laura Lewis; his beloved children, Scott Lewis, Ally Lewis & Dominique Nguyen, Gabi Lewis, and Emily Lewis & Jake Dinnan; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Lewis, Claire Dinnan, Hudson Nguyen, Koda Dinnan and Finn Lewis.

Visitation will take place at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, located at 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda, FL 33950, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 2-4 PM. A Mass celebrating Mark’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located at 211 W Charlotte Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950, with a reception to follow at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home.

In this time of sorrow, we remember Mark for his unwavering spirit, his humor, and the love he shared with all of us. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
