Mark Stephen's obituary

It is with great sadness that I announce the peaceful passing of Mark Stephen Potvin on December 27, 2025. Born on April 15, 1956, Mark was known for his quick wit, easy-going demeanor, dependability, gentleness, and trustworthiness.

Mark was a 1974 graduate of Walled Lake Western High School located on Beck Road, Commerce Township, MI. He was a man of simple tastes, enjoying jalapeno anything, fish sandwiches, and Taco Bell. He loved watching MMA and boxing, playing Hot Shot Golf video game on PS3, and had a deep appreciation for 'Swan Song', his favorite book.

An infectious  spirit with a heart for music, his greatest accomplishments lie in his keyboard and musical abilities since his early teen years, and cultivated as part of MR DJ, Wayback Machine, and Funtown Band, with whom he played for over 25 years as Duggan's only and premier Woodward Dream Cruise entertainment.

He had a wide range of favorite movies including Star Trek, Alien, Predator, Jurassic Park, and It's a Wonderful Life. Mark was an avid supporter of the Detroit Lions, Redwings, Pistons, and Tigers, alongside his admiration for the University of Michigan. He thrived in long walks with his dogs, Max and Bingo, and was always eager to lend support to ASPCA and aid to Israel, causes dear to his heart.

His wife of 23 years will always remember their shared love and appreciation for 'Phantom of the Opera' and Trans-Siberian Orchestra (among their favorite performances), and his favorite local spots like Duggan's and Charlie's Restaurant.

Mark was predeceased by his beloved parents Edward Ernest Potvin and Dorothy (Goucher) Potvin. He leaves behind his loving wife, Stormy (Merri Lynn Grogan) Potvin, whom he married in 2002,  his children Julie Christine Potvin, Michael Edward Potvin, and step-son Michael (Erica) Terry.  He will be lovingly remembered by his  6 siblings: , Michael Edward Potvin, Linda (Pat) Frazee, Denis (Kristine) Potvin, Janine (Bill) Solmes, Jill (Kent) Thurman, and Kent (Lisa) Potvin.  In addition,  Mark leaves behind two loving grandchildren and a host of adoring nieces, nephews, extended family, and long-time friends.

Mark imparted an enduring influence on those touched by his life.  His legacy is his kindness, loyalty, quick wit, his music, and his relentless quest for knowledge.  He always tried to lead by example, showing those close to him the virtues of kindness and forgiveness.

"Mark, I am forever changed having been in your orbit and shared our remarkable journey.  You are my forever love, and while you are surely missed, I know that memories of you will resonate in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.  Rest easy in the arms of God" - Stormy Lynn
