Mark's obituary

Mark Anthony Mayfield, 65, passed away on July 16, 2020, at his home in Tyler, Texas. He was born on January 17, 1955 to the late John Anthony and Pat Mayfield, in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from North Garland High School. In 1982, He moved to Chapel Hill and opened Mayfield Custom Cabinets with his first wife Debbie (Ogletree). They served the surrounding area for 6 years. He then worked for Dallas Morning News, followed by his final career path as a landman from 2005-2014. He and his wife Melanie traveled between Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Louisiana working in the oil field. Mark began declining with several health issues with his heart and diabetes, forcing him into retirement. Although his last years on earth were conflicted with many health issues, he made the most of life with his wife and family. He always smiled, despite how he was feeling. He and Melanie were members of Rose Heights Church in Tyler.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
His is survived by his wife of 25 years, Melanie Mayfield, son Matt Mayfield and wife Stephanie of Tyler, daughter Jennifer Johnson and Mariusz of Dallas, seven grandchildren: Christan Williams, Keylee Adair, Judsen Johnson, Taylor and Darrin Kingsley, Alyssa Woods and Kaylyn Howerton, and one great grandchild Gwendolyn Stegall. He is also survived by his sisters Cheryl Davis and husband Jimmy, and Sheila Ford and husband Rex, as well as many nieces and nephews, and his dog Cinnamon.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at FUMC Chandler Family Life Center (1 block west of highway 31 and FM 315), at 2pm, with his best friend Mike Ashenfelter and Rev. Bryan Harkness officiating. All are welcome to attend.
The family would like to thank Vicky Shamburg and Mike for beginning the Go Fund Me account to help Melanie with all of her medical and financial needs during this time.
