Mark James Powers, 66, of Santa Monica, CA passed away on January 05, 2015, from Cancer. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Mark James was predeceased by his Mother, Pearl Ann Powers, and Father, James Thomas Powers. He is survived by his partner, Selwyn Louise Puryear, and their children, Thor Phoenix Powers, Freya Sundana Powers, and Selwyn Louise Powers.  Mark James attended Orange Coast College in Orange County, California.  He went on to study at California State University, Sacramento,  earning a degree in Photography and Theater Arts, in 1973.  Mark James Powers was a well-respected Photographer and became known for his iconic images of the 1960s and 1970s, of which many of these framed photographs are housed in the Smithsonian in Washington DC.  Mark James Powers loved art. He and his artist partner, Selwyn, shared this love for 3 decades. Mark James Powers Photographer is loved and missed by many.
