Mark's obituary
In Loving Memory of Mark Edward Gleinser
March 2nd, 1953 – July 11th, 2025
Mark Edward Gleinser, 72, passed away at home in Georgetown, Texas, on July 11th, 2025, with family at his side, after a nearly ten-year journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born in Lubbock, Texas, on March 2nd, 1953, Mark was the fourth of ten children raised in San Antonio by his parents, James and Rita Gleinser. He proudly shared his birthday with Texas Independence Day and deeply admired his father, a WWII veteran, and his mother for her quiet strength.
Mark attended the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. A devoted Longhorn, he wore burnt orange proudly and cheered on UT football for life.
He spent his career in the restaurant industry, becoming general manager at The County Line on the Lake, where he led with heart for 37 years. He retired in 2016 following his diagnosis of early-onset Alzheimer’s.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Barbara Gleinser, whom he married in December of 1980 and their three children, Shawn (Ashlie), Travis (Kristen), and Courtney Gleinser. One of his greatest joys was being Grandpa to Carson, Grayson, Haydon, and Florence.
He is also survived by his siblings, Stephen Gleinser, Carolyn (Mike) Meegan, Paul Gleinser, Charlie (Laura) Gleinser, Anne (Mark) Armstrong, Susie Blackledge, Roy (June) Gleinser, and Nancy (Brian) Kies, carrying his memory forever in their hearts. His parents, James and Rita Gleinser, sister, Judy (Garry) Swartz, sister-in-law, Debra Gleinser, and brother-in-law, Edgar Blackledge, preceded him in death.
Mark was kind, spirited, down-to-earth, and deeply faithful. His memory lives on through his family, his friends, those he mentored, and every life he touched with his generosity and humor.
His legacy is one of strength, warmth, and grace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at The County Line on the Lake. All who knew and loved Mark are welcome.
