Doyle was more than just a teacher—he was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light in my life. I first met him in 10th grade for Honors English, but our bond grew far beyond the classroom. For three years, he was a constant presence, someone I could always turn to, someone who made learning feel like a journey rather than an obligation.

Even after I left his class, I would visit his room often, just to talk, to share stories, to learn something new from him. In 11th grade, I started bringing lunch to his room, and those quiet moments became some of the most meaningful. We would talk about life, about literature, and about the ocean—our shared love for surfing and the Outer Banks creating yet another thread that connected us.

He helped shape the way I see the world. He made me fall in love with English—not just as a subject, but as a way to live, to think, to express, and to dream. His wisdom, his wit, and his unwavering belief in his students left an imprint that can never be erased.

Mr. Doyle, you will be missed more than words can say. But I will carry your lessons with me always, and I will never forget—“gullible” really is on the ceiling, if you take the time to look.

Earth’s loss is heaven’s gain! Always in our hearts 🥰

Thank you  for being a world class teacher and leaving a lasting memory that I have carried through life. Even for the fleeting moment of 10th grade, I am truly grateful to have been your student and for guiding me to where I am today. 🏄‍♂️🌊🤙🏽
