In Loving Memory of Mark Alan Baize

Alan Baize, beloved father, husband, papaw and friend, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born June 18, 1957, in Owensboro, KY, he lived a life full of love, laughter and dedication to those he held dear.

Professionally, Alan excelled in his career as an attraction mechanic at Walt Disney World. He had a true passion for fixing things. He spent 35 years maintaining and repairing numerous attractions across Walt Disney World. He spent 25 of these 35 years at Kali River Rapids and had the honor of being part of the opening team for Grizzly River Run at Disney’s California Adventure. His dedication to his profession was unparalleled, and many of his fellow cast members remember him as kind, funny, and charming. Alan had an impact on everyone he met and was a bright light who will truly be missed by his Disney Family.

Being a Papaw came naturally to Alan. His grandkids loved the time he spent with them at baseball games, making piñatas, building Beyblade ramps, playing games, watching movies, reading books and playing in the pool.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Marvie, his dad, O.V., and his beloved dogs.

He leaves behind to celebrate his life his beloved wife, Darlene Spurrier Baize, his children, Phelicia Baize Sweet (Richard Sweet), Aaron Baize (Sarah Mendonca Baize), his sisters Jane Baize Townsend Smith and Gail Arnold Tine and 4 grandsons, Julian, Blake, Liam and Owen.

Please join his family for a celebration of life to be held on July 20, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Grissom Funeral Home in Kissimmee (803 West Emmett Street).

Family and Friends are invited to put on your favorite jeans and your KY Blue & White to share happy memories and celebrate Alan’s life, in the way he would like to be remembered as a loving jokester with a big heart that was always very giving.
