Mark's obituary

Mark Steven Bailey, a native of Rantoul, IL, age 58, passed away October 4th, 2021. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife; Brenda Bailey and two daughters Kailey D’Anna(husband, Cody D’Anna) and Madison Williams(husband, Justin Williams), and his grandchildren; Levi, Catalina, Mya, Jaxon, Harleigh, and Autumn. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister; Brenda Bailey Combest and brother; Robert Bailey(wife, Villia Bailey), as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and in laws.

He was greeted at the gates of heaven by his mother, Catalina Bailey, and his brother, Brian Bailey.

Mark attended the Chicago Academy of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago after graduating from high school. He then honorably served his country in the US Air Force for ten years doing graphic arts for Tac Attack and Combat Edge magazines. He continued his passion for graphic arts with other jobs after settling with his family in Hampton, VA. He most recently worked for HII Mechanical.

He loved going to the beach with his wife, playing with his grandkids, taking his pups for ice cream, a good joke, and trying to embarrass his daughters growing up.

Many long lasting friendships were made while he spent time playing men’s softball locally for a number of teams. Continuing his love for the game, Mark became a coach and mentor for young girls playing softball in the Fox Hill and Northampton leagues.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at 2pm at Francis Asbury Elementary’s softball field. The family welcomes family and friends 1-3pm before and after the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate to a memorial fund in Mark’s name to support youth softball in the area.
