Marjorie's obituary

Ms. Marjorie Ann Wood, 79, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Frederick, Maryland.

Born on April 6, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Marjorie dedicated her life to education. After graduation from Drexel University in 1968, she had a distinguished career as a mathematics professor for over 50 years. She started out as a high school math teacher in PA, taught to US and allied personnel in Germany when stationed there with her family, and then spent over 30 years teaching for colleges and universities in the Washington, D.C. area, primarily with Montgomery College and the University of Maryland Global Campus. Marjorie inspired countless students with her passion for mathematics and learning.

Always tough, Marjorie survived breast cancer and had multiple heart surgeries. She is survived by her sons, David and William, her four grandchildren, and her longtime partner John Upton. Her legacy lives on through the many students she mentored and the family she cherished. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.

A celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on her birthday with details to follow.
