Marjorie's obituary
Marjorie Agnes (Bane) Snyder, 78, passed peacefully in her home on March 22nd. Margie and her identical twin, Mary, were born in Oklahoma City on April 29, 1946. After graduating from Bishop McGinnis High School and then, Oklahoma State University she moved to San Francisco where she met her husband of 53 years, Larry. Their marriage was punctuated with moves from San Francisco to Chicago, then to New York, Hilton Head Island, and, lastly, to their home in Groveland, Florida.
Margie was a Speech Pathologist and Special Educator for many years and left the classroom to start a family. During her parenting years she costumed and produced community theater productions, chaired the PTA, created a book publishing program for students, and made a positive impact on every community of which she was part. Later on in life, Margie became a Director at Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry where she taught both reading and English as a second language. Her care for others was apparent in her life of service and love of family.
She is survived by her husband, Larry; her daughters, Allison Katula, Katharine (Rob) Lott and Laura (Carlyle) Tilly; grandchildren, Zoe, Faolin, Jacob and Anna; her brothers, Joe and John; niece, Laurel; and nephews, Nathan and Jonathan. She was preceded in death by her Father, Joseph Bane; Mother, Elizabeth Ann Bane; nephew, Michael Evan Bane; and sister, Mary E. Bane.
She was very involved in her faith including being an active Daughter of the King and lay Eucharistic leader. She traveled to Israel where she saw many holy sites and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She will be interred in the columbarium at St. Luke’s Anglican Church on Hilton Head Island.
