Marjorie's obituary
A public celebration of life will be held at the Lions Club in Eagle River, Alaska on Saturday May 22nd, 2021 from 1-4 pm. Please join us in celebrating the life of this wonderful woman, and bid our final goodbyes.
Margie was preceded in death by her father Leonard “Tiny” Gardner, her mother Julia Annette Gardner, brother George Gardner, and sister in law, Denise Gardner. Margie is survived by her daughter, Julia “Julie” Gardner; step children Mackenzie, and CJ; brothers James, Sam, Robert, and Ben Gardner; their spouses and children; and many members of extended family.
Born Marjorie Day Gardner on February 8, 1967 in Palmer, Alaska she was the youngest of six children, and the only girl. She was loved and protected by her brothers her whole life. They taught her how to be strong, independent, and all about the automotive world.
In 1994, when their father passed away, Margie and her brothers took over the family business their parents started, Hilltop Recycling in Chugiak, Alaska. Although she had a degree in Medical Assisting, Margie put her chosen career aside to help continue the successful business her parents started in 1960. Their hard work paid off as the business flourished.
Degrees and the business aside, Margie always said her greatest accomplishment was her daughter, Julia. She worked hard and raised her daughter as a single mother. Their home was always full of love and laughter. She instilled all her best qualities in her daughter; independence, determination, responsibility, and kindness.
Her favorite hobbies included reading a good book, binge watching her favorite shows, playing cards, and loving on her great-nephew, Ethan, her “baby love.” She was beautiful, smart, loyal, loving, stubborn, and funny. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend. She always had a quick smile and a quick witt. She will always be remembered with love, and never forgotten, as she lives on in our hearts and memories forever.
Until we meet again. We love you.
