Marjorie's obituary
Marjorie Doris Blomberg, 90 years old of Smyrna, Georgia passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was born in 1935 in Brooklyn, NY and was raised in Packanack Lake, NJ. She and her husband moved to Pompton Plains, NJ, after they were married and were members of the Our Savior Lutheran Church, where Marjorie often volunteered for community outreach programs. She also volunteered for the Red Cross for many years.
Marjorie spent 50 years at the Hospital Center of Orange - 20 years as a nurse and 30 years as a hospital administrator. Following her retirement, she worked at the College of Saint Elizabeth as an admissions and program coordinator for the nursing program. She was named Nurse Administrator of the year by the New Jersey Governor and was the chairlady for the State Board of Nurses. Her schooling involved Paterson General School of Nursing, New School for Social Research, masters in Public Health Nursing.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lawrence E. Blomberg; her son, Larry Blomberg, his wife Kinda, and their children, Grace and Joseph; her daughter, Lynne Orr, Lynne’s daughter, Mackenzie, and Mackenzie’s husband, Brian. Marjorie is also survived by her sister, Muriel Zweig and husband, Richard; her niece Sheri and daughter Madeline; her niece Suzi and son Zane; as well as her cousins, Harriet, Caroline, Doug, and Ross.
Marjorie was known by her co-workers, friends, and family as being kindhearted, generous, and accepting of diversity. Her nieces refer to her as their favorite family member, Auntie Marge.
A service to celebrate Marjorie’s life will be held in June; check with the family for further details.
