Marissa's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marissa Lavonne Nones, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Marissa was born on February 20, 1988, and departed from this life too soon on February 15, 2024. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
Marissa is survived by her loving husband Kyle, five children Kyle Jr. Age 18, Daniel Age 16, Zurie Age 15, Pepper Age 13, and Gavin Age 12, mother Marla and siblings Jenny, Len, & Victoria, father Tarlan, along with many extended family not listed here who cherished and adored her deeply.
A Celebration of Life for Marissa will be held on February 25, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at our family home in Hurricane, UT. We welcome all who knew and loved her to join us as we remember her beautiful spirit and lasting impact.
Marissa was a beacon of light to those she encountered, always ready with a kind word or a shared laugh. Her personality was a kaleidoscope of wonderful traits — thoughtful, caring, creative, sensitive, funny, adventurous, kind, loving, playful, and honest. She was an activist for the LGBTQ+ community and an advocate for domestic violence awareness and empowering sexual assault victims. She was proud of founding "The Answer is Know" Support Group which was dedicated to sharing knowledge, creating community, and empowering survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. She had a big heart and was warm and welcoming to everyone she met. She was an avid singer and loved to sing Karaoke with her friends and welcome to new friends to the microphone. She was a deep thinker, loved to philosophize, and a feisty lover of a good debate. She embraced her Venezuelan roots, and had a love for her extended Turkish family. Playing board games and outdoor adventures with her siblings Jenny, Len, and Vicki were always a favorite past time. Growing up in Utah she cherished a lot of the memories shared with her siblings, cousins, Aunt Roxanne, and extended family. She believed in being your authentic self and leading with your heart, lessons she passed on through her words and her actions.
She was a devoted mother. She always wanted her kids prepared for what life might throw their way and taught them to be independent, resilient, & accepting of all. She is eternally proud of raising well behaved and well rounded children.
These aspects of her life, among others, constitute some of her greatest accomplishments. Despite her untimely departure, Marissa's legacy is one of loving with a big heart, living an authentic life & living optimistically with resilient determination - a legacy that will endure and continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised for "Help With Funeral Expenses & Grief Counseling". We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any contributions made in honor of Marissa's memory to help her family at this time and her children. We invite everyone to celebrate Marissa's life by embracing and promoting the lessons she gifted us - be authentic, lead with your heart, and love without boundaries. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
