Marion's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marion Grace Souilliard, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 18, 2025, at the age of 98, in her home in Carmel, Indiana. She lived a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Marion was born on September 14, 1926 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to Clement Albert and Ellen Kreider. She was married to Harper Souilliard for 55 years, was a caring mother to her daughter Jolie Renee (Husband Brian) and her son Jon Souilliard, and a dedicated grandmother to Arlo Paulson (Wife Heather), and Garrett Paulson. She was known for her laugh, sense of fashion, her home made and very effective skin care recipes, her love of a fresh cup of coffee and a clean home. Marion had a warm heart, a strong and curious spirit and unwavering faith in Eckankar.
Throughout her life, Marion found joy in her love of family get togethers, music, cooking, herb gardening, natural remedies, raising her Persian cats, bike rides and tennis, traveling throughout the US and Europe, and of course her spiritual studies. She made sure she was there to help celebrate all events with her children and grandchildren. In her younger years, she did some commercial modeling and worked at Hickory Farms, and at age 50 she earned an Associate’s Degree in Telecommunications. As her years progressed to age 70, Marion was caregiver to Harper during his 6-year struggle with Parkinson’s. After he passed in 2004, Marion volunteered to help out at the Carmel Public Library Friends Bookstore for 9 years, and at the Palladium Center for the Arts. She was active in a women’s barbershop chorus, ‘Harmony Magic’ until well into her 80’s. She worked at various stores at the Fashion Mall to bring in some extra money and enjoy being around people. And finally, every Saturday she enjoyed going to the Carmel Farmers Market in search of Indiana-produced organic foods. Marion and her daughter got to know many of the vendors there!
She is survived by her daughter Jolie (husband Brian), grandsons Arlo (wife Heather) and Garrett, a niece (Jean Yount) in Greenville, South Carolina and a nephew (Larry Shuey) and niece (Carlene Spitler) in Lebanon County, PA.
A Celebration of Life with be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Robertson Chapel, 100 W. 86th Street in Indianapolis, beginning with a visitation at 3:00 PM and a Celebration of Life at 3:30, followed by a meal made by St. Luke’s own kitchen staff.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County, a non-profit organization that promotes and supports independent lifestyles for senior adults. They were a huge help to Marion all through her 90’s. https://shepherdscenterofhami…
