Marian's obituary

The loving and much loved wife of John (Jack) Albert Commerford and the cherished mother of Janet, Joan, John, Jim and Lynn. Predeceased by her brother, Douglas, she leaves her beloved sister, Thelma Robar.

Fondly remembered by sons-in-law Rock and Greg, daughter-in-law Donna. foster son Redae Abraham and Marian's grandchildren: Phillip and Paul (Janet), Sean (Joan), David and Michael (John), Kiersten (Jim) and Renee and Geoffrey (Lynn). In addition, Marian has three new great grandchildren Jack, Ariel and Logan.

Marian was born and raised in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. She graduated with honours from the Maritime Business College in Halifax. After graduation, she worked as a Bookkeeper. She excelled at many things. She was a wonderful pianist, a choir director, a Sunday school teacher, a skilled writer, typist and editor. She helped her husband through law school by editing and typing his papers. They married on February 12, 1948.

With Jack rejoining the military, Marian had to give up her job as a Bookkeeper. She followed him to his different postings: Petawawa, Kingston, Ottawa and Germany. During these years, she birthed five rambunctious children who she loved unconditionally.

Marian was a loving wife, a wonderful friend and a devoted mother and grandmother. She is missed more than words can express.

The family offers sincere appreciation to the staff at Grace Manor and the Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre, who cared diligently for Marian in her later years.
