Marion's obituary

Mr. Marion Boykin Sr.  born March 7, 1939 in Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2024 in his home of Richmond, Virginia.   He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Thomasina Boykin, and was known for his strength of character,  gentle spirit and loving personality.  Marion's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him as he was a beacon of inspiration for those around him.  

In his leisure time, Marion found solace in his hobbies. He had a passion for fishing, spending countless hours by the water, patiently waiting for the perfect catch. Western movies were another source of joy for him, transporting him to a world of cowboys and outlaws. Additionally, he enjoyed the thrill of the casino, trying his luck at various games with a contagious enthusiasm.

Marion's life was filled with dedication and purpose, which he shared generously with his loved ones.  His memory will remain as an inspiration, reminding us of the strength, love, and kindness he bestowed upon us all.  The light that God showered upon him was a ray of sunshine to every person he met, he was patient and kind, had a huge sense of humor and loved his western television shows.  He traveled the world, loved life, and poured unconditional love into his family and friends.   Marion Boykin Sr. is survived by his four sons and their wives: Marion and Antoinette Boykin, Joseph Boykin, Thomas and Nancy Boykin, and Harry and Alberta Boykin.   

He leaves behind, his ten grandchildren that will tremendously miss him: Janet Shaniqua Price, Harry Boykin Jr., Marcus Boykin, Brittany Gary, Brandon Boykin, Ashley Boykin, Devon Gholson, De'Andre Perry, Jalen Boykin, and Lorenz Boykin.  He took pride in being a male role model for them all, and was honored to hold the special place in all of their hearts. 

Marion was the last living elder of his siblings prior to his passing, he was a beloved brother, cousin, uncle, great grandfather, and friend to so many.  Marion Boykin was a remarkable man who touched the lives of all those fortunate enough to know him. His kind heart, unwavering support, and gentle guidance will forever be cherished. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and the importance of embracing life's adventures.

Marion Boykin Sr. also known as Toby, Dad, Poppa, Grandpa the Great, and Gpop will always be remembered in our hearts and minds as he continues his journey in peace and love.
