Mario's obituary

Mario Cantu age 89, passed away peacefully at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25th, 2018 , in Boise, Idaho at St Aflonso Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 16, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, To Jesusita Beltran. Soon after finishing school in 1947, he joined the Army. He served in Korea, Vietnam and many other places before meeting the love of his life, Helga, in Berlin, Germany in 1947. After courting her for a while, she finally said yes, and they were married May 9, 1967. They had 3 daughters. In 1970, they relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, where he retired as an E-6 Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he moved with his family to Downey, California, where he accepted a security position at Boeing Nasa Industrial Plant. He worked for Boeing for 15 years before retiring. They then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to enjoy their retirement. After spending 10 years in Nevada, they moved to Boise, Idaho. Mario Cantu was a very hardworking man who provided well for his family and always made them proud. He enjoyed fishing, reading his Army Times newspaper, and watching television shows involving the military or world news. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Helga Cantu; his daughters ,Maria, Nina and Lucy; Six grandchildren ,Christina , Mark, Shaun, Lauren, Amber and Amy; and 3 great grandchildren, Aidan , Joe Tyler III, and Jacob.
Because of the private man Mario Cantu was, his final wishes were that no services be held. The Burial will take place on June 7, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Idaho State Veterans cemetery 10100 N. Horse bend Rd, Boise Idaho.
