Mario's obituary
Mario Ralph Battista
November 18, 1965 – September 5, 2025
Mario Ralph Battista, 59, of Jurupa Valley, California, passed away on September 5, 2025.
Born in Anaheim, California, on November 18, 1965, Mario was the fifth child in a family of six siblings. From an early age, he found joy in sports — playing Little League baseball, Pop Warner football, and joining a junior bowling league. Football quickly became his passion, carrying him through high school, into college, and even into semi-professional leagues well into his thirties. His grit and determination on the field were unmatched, and even injuries couldn’t keep him from competing.
When football took a backseat, Mario turned to bowling, where his booming laugh, cheers, and playful banter filled every alley he entered. He came within two pins of a perfect 300 game, a story he carried with both pride and humor. Later, he took up golf — not for the score, but for the friendships, the laughter, and the camaraderie.
Family was at the center of Mario’s world. He loved coaching his sons in football and track, cheering them on from the sidelines with the same fire he brought to every game. He cherished time with his siblings and treasured family gatherings, where he could often be found cooking, telling stories, and making everyone laugh. Mario loved music — from doo-wop classics to Chris Stapleton — and his home was often filled with both songs and the aroma of his favorite meals.
Mario is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Battista; his seven children, Cody, Mason, Jaimee, Britton, Rachael, Melissa, and Sarah; sixteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Mario’s life will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Old Ranch Country Club, 3901 Lampson Ave., Seal Beach, CA 90740.
Mario lived with passion, humor, and heart. He worked hard, played hard, and loved deeply. His legacy of perseverance, loyalty, and joy will live on in everyone whose lives he touched.
