Marilyn and I met 67 years ago when our husbands ( Bob and Don) played baseball together. We’d sit and watch their games together and our friendship grew. Soon we were doing everything together. Shopping, bowling, even getting pregnant at the same time. Marilyn had Mark and I had Scott then 3 years later Cindy and Debby were born! Our families grew together and so did our friendship. We spent many, many evenings having dinner and playing cards while our kids hung out with each other, forming their own friendships.
Our summers were usually spent camping. Sometimes we’d rent cabins and other times we’d rough it in tents. We were always near water for fishing and swimming. Marilyn was a great cook and she taught me all the tricks for cooking on a budget. Everyone still raves about her famous rice pudding!
As time went by, sadly we drifted apart but we still kept in touch through cards and phone calls.
I will miss you, my best friend.
