On April 11, 2026, our beloved mother, Marilyn Beth Sylvester, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was blessed with 90 years and lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ, and guided by the Holy Bible.

Marilyn was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God’s plan.

Marilyn was born to Harold and Myrtle (Orcutt) Vargason on February 8, 1936, in Rapid City, MI. As a child, she loved to spend time at her grandparent’s farm in Kalkaska MI. She was an avid book reader and enjoyed spending time with her cousins.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Neil Dale Sylvester. She is survived by three children, Christine (Patrick) Schaefer, Joseph (Mary) Sylvester and Jeannie (Thad) Danner. Marilyn was blessed with five grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren. Marilyn is also survived by two brothers, Victor (Sandra Jane) Vargason and Ronald (Barbara) Vargason.

Marilyn worked for approximately 20 years as church custodian at Christian Celebration Center in Midland, MI. She treasured her church family and was a member of the choir for many years. She was also a Crossing Guard for the City of Midland.

A celebration of her life will be held at Christian Celebration Center in Midland, MI on Saturday, May 16, 2026, where we will gather to honor her memory and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life. We will welcome visitors at 1:00 pm with the service beginning at 2:00 pm.
