Background
If you knew Marilyn, you probably knew how giving she was of herself - her time, her attention, and if you ever needed it, her resources. For over 40 years, she dedicated her life to others and chose to help anyone who crossed her path, personally or professionally.
Unfortunately, we recently learned that she didn't have life insurance, and had not only given her money to others, but had accrued debts to help people while her own medical expenses grew.
One of Marilyn's wishes was to leave a financial legacy for those she cared about. When she sold the family home in 2017, she had planned to put money aside for her final expenses, for outstanding bills and a gift for her grandchildren.
Unfortunately, her failing health and continuing desire to help others kept this from happening. Since suffering two car accidents in 2016, she endured surgeries, head injuries and strokes which ran her financial well dry. Through all of this, she continued giving what she had to charities and friends: offering thousands of dollars to a single dad who was struggling, making her store credit card available to a client needing home improvements, or simply donating a monthly contribution to Wikipedia's research page because 'it was a good cause' were all easy decisions for her, regardless of her own ability to make ends meet.
Within the past few years, she lost the ability to work and therefore could not raise money on her own. She helped to make holidays and birthdays special for her grandchilden, helped her son on disability with monthly living expenses, and downsized to a smaller shared home with her sister, which will now be more than she can afford on her own.
If you have the means to help, if you were touched in some way by her life of helping, or if you simply wish to 'pay it forward' with a gift, your contribution will help with the cost of her service, her final expenses, and at least a small portion of the debts that grew while she tried to navigate her health challenges. If you only click to share this post so it reaches others, we would love that, too. Thank you in advance for any way you choose to help. Contribute
